On 15th March is a very important day in regards to removing Ancestral curses… This day is called Somvar Amavasya (New Moon Monday). When new moon falls on a Monday this become a very important day to remove Ancestral curses… Most people in their kundali (birth chart) show that they are affected by Ancestral curses, some from a few percent to 100% due to various placements of the planets… This of course can be scoffed off by sceptics but I have learnt that we never question Muni Parashara, the father of Vedic Astrology. Parashara Muni is the father of Srila Vyasadev - the compiler of the Vedas and Puranas.

The Peepal Names in Different Languages: -

Binomial name - Ficus religiosa

English - The Sacred Fig or Bo-Tree

Hindi - Pipal (sometimes transliterated as: peepal, peepul, pippala…)

Sanskrit - Ashvattha, Vriksha

Tamil - Arasa maram

Telegu – Raagi

Malayalam – Arayal

Please inquire from your local temple if they have a Peepal tree in the temple yard. The Peepal tree is a very large tree. Its bark is light grey, smooth and peels in patches. Its heart-shaped leaves have long, tapering tips. The slightest breeze makes them rustle. The fruit is purple when ripe.

peeppal_tree The Brahma Purana and the Padma Purana, relate how once, when the demons defeated the Devas, Lord Vishnu hid in the Peepal. Therefore spontaneous worship to Lord Vishnu can be offered to a Peepal without needing the Lord’s image or temple. The Skanda Purana also considers the Peepal a symbol of Lord Vishnu. The Devas are said to hold their councils under this tree and so it is associated with spiritual understanding. The Peepal is also closely linked to Lord Krishna. In the Bhagavad Gita, the Lord says: "Among trees, I am the ashvattha."

In the Upanishads, the fruit of the Peepal is used as an example to explain the difference between the body and the soul: the body is like the fruit which, being outside, feels and enjoys things, while the soul is like the seed, which is inside and therefore witnesses things. According to the Skanda Purana, if one does not have a son, the Peepal should be regarded as one. As long as the tree lives, the family name will continue. To cut down a Peepal tree is considered a sin equivalent to killing a Brahmin, one of the five deadly sins or Panchapataka. According to the Skanda Purana, a person goes to hell for doing so.

Some people are particular to touch the Peepal Tree only on a Saturday. The Brahma Purana explains why, saying that Ashvattha and Peepala were two demons who harassed people. Ashvattha would take the form of a peepal and Peepala the form of a Brahmin. The fake Brahmin would advise people to touch the tree, and as soon as they did, Ashvattha would kill them. Later they were both killed by Shree Shani-dev. Because of his influence, it is considered safe to touch the tree on Saturdays (Lord Shani’s Day). Mother Lakshmi is also believed to inhabit the tree on Saturdays. Therefore it is considered auspicious to worship the Peepal Tree then. Women ask the tree to bless them with a son tying red thread or red cloth around its trunk or on its branches. Some use white cotton string. The Peepal is also sacred to Buddhists, because the Lord Buddha (the 9th incarnation of Lord Krishna) is believed to have attained enlightenment under this tree. Hence it is also called the Bodhi tree or 'tree of enlightenment'.

Pitr /Matru Dosha Remedies… (Ancestral curses)

Pitra Dosh is not the curse of the ancestors, but it is a debt formed as a result of bad, sinful deeds performed by ones ancestors and this debt has to be paid by the present generation either by taking the punishment decided according to that debt or by doing some specific good Karmic deeds which would help paying this debt so that the degree of punishment may be decreased.

RESULTS OF THIS DOSHA (curse)

HOUSE PEACE DISTURBED, NO PROGENY, SEPERATION BETWEEN HUSBAND WIFE, CHRONIC DISEASES, ACCIDENTS, DEPRESSION, DISTURBED SLEEP , DREAMS , PROBLEMS ON SUBCONCIOUS LEVEL, PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEMS, HIDDEN ENEMIES, CHANGE IN PROFESSION, HEAVY UNWANTED EXPENSES, VIGOROUS TRAVELLING, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, MANY HURDLES IN LIFE, LOANS ,DEBTS.

You can perform any of these remedies but the first one is something I would highly recommend.

When there is a new moon Monday (Somvar Amavasya) (This year it’s on 15th March, 9th August) go to a Peepal tree (this you will find is any temple yard), below is what the leaf looks like just to give you an idea.

peepal_leaf Pray to the Peepal tree and Lord Vishnu that whatever your ancestors from the male and female linage did sinful to please forgive them and release that burden on yourself and your family. Offer one jeneo (Brahmin thread) to the Peepal tree and one to Lord Vishnu (this you do in your mind or you can take a small picture of Lord Vishnu to the temple). Then do 108 Parikrama’s (circumambulation) of the Peepal tree, with each Parikrama offer a sweet to Peepal tree. While doing Parikrama continuously chant the mantra “OM NAMO BHAGAWATE VAASUDEWAAYA". After doing Parikrama again pray to Peepal tree and Lord Vishnu and seek forgiveness. Somwati Amavasya pooja gives very quick results. (A hint you can make Suji (Soojee), and make that into 108 small round balls. This is easy and quite cheap to make). Also note that this is per person. If a family of four does this prayers then you need to make 4 X 108. All can walk around together at the same time.

I would humbly suggest this prayer be performed within these times 09h01 – 10h29 or after 12h31 – 18h00.

Feed crows and fishes with cooked rice mixed with ghee and made into balls on Saturdays. The more Saturdays you do this the better the results.

Worshipping Lord Vishnu, especially the form of Shree Raam daily.

Perform Rudrabhishek (Rudra Abhishek) in the name of your ancestors. This is something that you can do yourself. In this puja Lord Shiva is worshipped in the form of Lingam and abhishek is performed with different articles like flowers, milk, coconut water, honey, yogurt (maas), sugarcane juice etc. but I would suggest you just use firstly milk and then water. You can if you like offer incense, lamp and flower thereafter. Keep it simple. You can perform this prayer on Mondays or Saturdays.

Those who are suffering from Pitr Dosh perform remedial pujas for Lord Shani like fasting saltless on Saturday , chant Hanumanji’s Chalisa, or chanting Shanidev’s mantra “Om sham shanaish-charaaya namah”

Sarpa dosha (The Curse of a Snake)

From time immemorial, people and serpents were living in close proximity and had a love and hate relationship. It is believed that hurt serpents are vengeful and curse the persons who have hurt them. The serpentine curse has devastating effect, and it is so intense that it continues to haunt even after death (in future births also) till it gets absolved. The adverse effects of Sarpa dosha appear at very important phases of human life, that is, marriage and progeny. The impact of Sarpa dosha is so severe that it may create early curtailment of wedlock, by death of spouse or divorce, delay in progeny or no progeny and unexpected accidents. Miscarriages, still births or defective children may also result.

You can perform any of these remedies:-

Worship Lord Subramanya (Muruga / Kartikeya) who is widely worshipped as the serpent deity and as forgiver of all doshas connected with serpents. Lord Subramanya is called Sarpa Dosha Nivaraka (remedier). Pray to Lord Muruga daily and ask the Lord to remove this snake curse that you have.

It is necessary to propitiate serpents by visiting serpent shrines/Pithu and performing appropriate worship like offering milk and unsalted popcorn. You can do this monthly or a few times a year. Some offer eggs (This is optional and left upon the individual. I don’t encourage this). You can if you like offer incense, lamp and flower thereafter. Keep it simple.

Those who are suffering Sarpa Dosh (Naga Dosh) perform remedial pujas to Lord Shani like fasting saltless on Saturday, chant Hanumanji’s Chalisa, or chanting Shanidev’s mantra “Om sham shanaish-charaaya namah”

The Sarpa Dosha Nivarana Mantra below can be recited 3 or 9 or 11 or 21 or best 108 times daily to be relieved of the Sarpa Dosha.

'Anantho Vasukee Seshaha Padmanaa-bhascha Kamba-laha

Sankha-paalo Dhaatha-raas-traha Taksha-ka Kaaliyas-thatha

Ethaani Nava-naa-maani Nagaa-naam cha

Mahaathma-naam
